Beware of how the front deck fits to the lower hull. Somebody here built one of these kits a few months ago and couldn’t quite figure it out, then ended up getting it “wrong”. I would suggest looking up that thread

Steve - It's gone together very well - certainly a lot better than some other kits I remember from that era. I have decided to drop the figures as they could be a lot better. I'm going to have a look now for some replacements.

Jakko - Cheers, Yes I can see how that could happen, and where our friend probably went wrong. It took some figuring out, but it fitted correctly.

        Hi Peter
I'm sure this one will see the finish line.

Jim - Yes. It's built and ready for weathering.

I've ordered these Sovereign crew figures:

I really like Sovereign's 1/35 figures. Although these are meant to be from different periods, they are both wearing standard Panzer uniforms and I've also ordered some spare heads to help them match.

The basic build is done. No tools or stowage yet.

The next stage is the weathering.

Yours seems to be right, with the front deck behind the bow plate rather than on top of it — apparently, the two hull halves go together both ways.

It is a Tamiya kit, which are not exactly known for their poor fit, and these old ones (this one is from, what, 1975?) have much of the detail moulded into the larger parts at that.

Mike - It's a pretty easy kit with just a few twiddly bits. Strictly a daylight modeller.

Jakko - It won't actually fit properly with the deck on top of the bow plate - messes up the fit at the back and means that the top of the hull won't meet the bottom half.

And as you say, not brain surgery.

                          Good evening Peter,
Great to see you tackle the classic Big T pzIV.....a true golden oldie.
One of the very first kits I built, probably the same for many of us I’m sure!

Admire your ability to build so neatly and so quickly:thumb2:

Hi Si - It was my first armour kit when I re-started the hobby. Seems like the World and his Wife have built this one.

                              Morning Peter

Great progress with the Pz IV, I prefer to paint the tools on-board, but you will still finish a light year ahead of the IV F2 I am working on!

The figures look very nice, the heads look OK too.

I haven't used Sovereign heads before, it will good to get your feedback on them.

                              A simple base to finish?

Have a good day with the paint, now the build is finished?

Its going to be a nice few days, with good light for very small figure painting?

                              Regards

                              Steve H

Hi Peter, not sure about the wife, but I built this one as well on re-entering the hobby very many moons ago:upside:. Made an Afrika Korps version out of it.

Good luck with the weathering and the figures, looking forward to see how you finish them.
