Yes, I absolutely agree David. Now that I'm getting more used to airbrushing I tend to thin the paint (etc.) to suit the job and size of needle I'm using (smaller needle, thinner product) then just play with the air until it's atomising well but not blowing (spidering) everywhere.
And John, that's my biggest bugbear with waterbased acrylics - I tend to spend more time cleaning than spraying
I'm finding the new AK paints better in that regard than Vallejo, but they're still not a patch on lacquer paints unfortunately. It's just a pity they are so stinky as it rules them out for many, as for ease of use and cleaning they really are night & day.
