Trumpeter Pz IV Ausf H, in 1/16th scale.

Here is my latest WIP, hope i can manage to get up some pictures. This is where it stands at the moment. All wheels built, tyres painted and am now putting tracks together. So far i have found the fit spot on, but a lot of cleaning up due to the size.

Step 1 of the instructions is usually a good place

Andrew, this is my first 1/16th vehicle, frankly Trumpeters instructions are very clear and straight forward. I have found that a lot of the work has to be done on auto pilot, else i think it could destroy the soul. Maybe the KT i have in the stash may well do that. Jakko :thumb2:. .Cheers Steve, i think SLOWLY would be the appropriate word, Graeme , only ones i had seen tended to be KT`s considering this is a medium tank, it is bigger than i expected. Evening Mr Race, when it is finished ,do fancy building a dio for it. No foamboard walls here mate , would probably have to be brick built, but think of the fun you could have doing a bit of destructive weathering :smiling5:.

Hi chaps, thought i would give the PE aficionado's a laugh. My first PE tool clamp, even though it is in the larger scale, still took about 1 hour of gentle teasing and poking to get 3 pieces of brass together. Then as you can see from the little darker area, stuck it in the wrong place at first, luckily the CA had not set. Also now have all the tracks built and primed. Have discovered that all Pz 4 tanks were fitted with zimmerit , however i have already assembled some parts that would have needed alterations, which is going to be very difficult now so think i will press on without the Zimm. Evidently there was none in areas behind Schurzen anyway, so it would have been pretty much only on the areas that unfortunately i have constructed. If anyone has any suggestions as to rectifying the issue, they would be welcome.

Jim, cheers mate, things are not going well though. Took me most of the day to get 3 tool clamps made. whilst placing them to mark for glue, all 3 have just fallen apart :confounded:. have been unable to get them back together. As there are a multitude of them in the kit still to be made and fitted, i think i shall need to make them as non workable. As for these 3 i am going to have to scratch build something to represent the clamps out of Lead foil i think .

Im looking to go over to 3d printer clamps in 1/35. Do they do them in 1/16 yet?

If nobody does, write one of the makers and ask

it should just be a question of re-scaling the digital model if you ask the manufacturer of the 1/35th ones.
It's not like there's any mould ,tooling or set-up cost, that's the whole point of 3D printing.

Steve, just googled 1/16th scale 3D tool clamps. they appear to be on the market. Wished i had thought of that earlier. Will certainly give them a try in future. :thumb2: .
