    KV-2 1/72 PST

Having got the APC on the BT7 chassis built and primed(see armour under construction) thought I'd play by the rules and let it cure fully for a few days so pulled this from the stash to fill in vacant time . Got it from Jadar hobbies Poland some time back now on arrival opened the box and quickly replaced it again very disappointed but having kept up with Raceys KV2 trials and tribulations decided to get it back down and reassess the situation.

As you can see from the sprue shot it ain't all that but went with the waste not want not and made a start ,although the parts aren't that good so far fit of parts has been brilliant, ,got the hull tub and running gear assembled saving the black placky link and length for later started to muck about with the rest. Replaced turret grab handles with some from brass rod also used some rod to put hinges and clasp/handles on the fender bins. The hull and turret mg's were utterly rubbish replaced them with some aluminium tubing ,quite cool i dont think you could drill out the barrel on the plastic one's.

Will finish the build then prime up at the same time as I put some green on the BT7 ,interesting reading on Raceys build the talk about turret slogans on KV's pictures of are practically non existent, if thoes decals are any good im having slogans on mine for the sole reason that every panzer 3 and 4 ,panther ,tiger you name it model built seems to have a statutory galvanised bucket hung on the back:hungry:. Lovely tidy additions to the kit Dave. Any reasoning behind the multi coloured sprues?

I honestly don't know I should think the tub and running gear is the same for all their KV's and most of the JS models they do , as for the black l+l tracks don't even go there, did you see the little apc on a bt7 chassis ive got up to primer in the armour under construction had to have one nice little kit. Dave.
Oh unless its like one of thoes jokes .....whats green grey and black and should be left in its box. I'll try and get down if poss to see our team woop yours (speedway).

Well I think that possibly the worst link and length track's I've worked with yet ,the links are a diffrent size to the links on the lengths plus the plastic seemed to have a aversion to cement a right sod to work with ,also the links had no holes for the drive sprocket teeth dont tell anybody but I cut the teeth off of the sprocket shhhhh. Sadly there was no way to put any sag on the tracks so characteristic of the Kv's but quit pleased so far ,should all come together with some primer. Dave

Thanks Bob certainly not the best kit ever but I'm sure a coat of primer will show it in a diffrent light

              David,
How you modellers do this in 1/72-76 scale and smaller baffles me, a real credit to you.

Thanks Mike, I work with the small stuff mostly because i love it and can get a fair bit of model for say up to twelve pounds anything over that is a treat ,I do dip in to the jumbo scale stuff now and then if its something that grabs my fancy, I've a fair few in the stash from days long ago. Don't let everybody know but its easy the small parts are no smaller than the small parts in a thirty fifth scale ,certainly no smaller than the small bits in a seventy second scale aircraft it just there's lots of them. Dave

Late afternoon all ,garden duties carried out was allowed back in at three ,washed and at bench for half past ,so woodshed some paint about ,all packed up by twenty five to five. Not the world's best kit but all came together nicely with the primer on.
Put the primer on one day in the week , mig one shot thinned down to fifty fifty using mr hobby aqueous thinner.

The greens are part of the mig ammo 4BO modulation set i didn't buy the set just purchased the ones I wanted separately (yes my bum is water tight) these were applied one after the other working from dark to light , once again mixed in the airbrush cup about fifty fifty with mr hobby aqueous thinner.

Bit heavy in places but hey ho ,will give it a couple of filter coats to calm it down and bring it together then decide on whether to go with floor polish lucky (satin)varnish or not even bother were see. Stay safe all . D.

Twice as much chance of failure then Bob......as to the KV, great job David. Fantastic job on the tracks, not sure I’d have the patience.

That is looking remarkably good. The kit is not the best but your improvements have been worth while. Well done fitting the tracks.
