    Ron's what-if Panzerzerstorer Tiger II

20 + years ago FCM had a resin conversion kit to be used with Tamiya's Panther G. Eventually a plastic rendition was done by Amusing Hobby which I just couldn't fall in love with. So I'm attempting my own with a kit-bash of Dragon's JagdTiger and JagdPanther, some random spares and a bit of scratch.... hope it's of some interest ! BTW recently BlitzGriegModelworks on Facebook and Youtube knocked off the cobwebs of his previously-started FCM kit, good stuff if what-if's are your cup of tea !

Thanks Rick ! Yeah I like the protruding pulpit-type Commander's station, has a very distinctive look. The Amusing Hobbies kit is lacking this feature.

Thanks Jack, the book waa published back in 2001 but still appears to be in Schiffer's catalogue. It's old-school modeling by today's standards but I love it, uses / teaches skills and techniques not learned with newer, nore modern kit building... I'd say it's in the vein of the classic Osprey books

Hiya Paul, thanks ! I know the casemate is rudimentary especially for want of an intetior or ar least a semblance of one. Right now my ambition isn't enough to see that aspect through ( Summer, Heat, Work, low energy, etc.) If this one turns out well then maybe another build...

Nice one Ron. Looks to be an interesting conversion you're doing and so far, looking good. You seem to have quite a bit going on at the bench now, huh? What's up with the UHU buddy?

                Prost

Hi there Allen, hope all is well Pal ! Yep, UHU needs to be finished. I did basecoat it Dunkelgelb but was not happy with the particular shade, a bit too dark. I will respray it with a lighter late-war shade from AK's Real Color range and add a camo scheme soon. Will post pics then !

You going with the 12.8cm? Seems a logical progression:smiling2:.

Interest build Ron. Would’ve been a big beast in real life. The Jagdtiger at Bovington is huge. It made the Elephant look small when they were shown alongside each other.

Zimmerit in progress .... since it's a what-if, I chose the Waffle pattern seen on (I believe exclusively) Stugs. This is one evening's work, maybe 3-4 hours labor, doing one panel, then letting that cure a bit, then moving on to another....PS the sloppy un-eveness of the waffle rows is intended since this represents a low-production late-war vehicle, perhaps even a one-off. Besides, even being more careful, I doubt I could get it much better
