Yeah Steve, you know the kids today, but you gotta admit, Paul is just doing his "thang"!!! And a fantastic thing you're doing Bro!!! I had to change my avatar to try and keep up. You have a good knack for making those tiny grab handles and such from brass wire. They are always so neat and uniform too, Paul. We want more.....
Prost

Steve I feel your pain. I thought about buying the New “old” Releases of the Tamiya M Halftracks but I thought of Paul’s and said why bother. The same with the New Tooled Tamiya M3 Scout car again thought of Paul’s why bother Lol. But I might buy and build them just so you guys will have a laugh.
Very kind of you mate, you need to build your half tracks nobody will laugh we are all great modellers on here and support each other.Comment

That's the fun of doing it, you learn a whole new language, you actually lose sleep, mutter to yourself at the dining table, sit in the armchair doing odd things with your fingers, suddenly get up halfway through a film, and the trouble is the wife thinks it's normal for you....Comment

The kit has four storage boxed in two groups of two, which i would presume are the modern or German versions of what I knew in the Army as Tomas bins. These could be used for small items or personal kit. The first thing to do was remove the moulded tie downs and carrying handles. The tie downs were replaces with 0.3mm copper wire. the carry handles with this wire and the insulation from some telephone wire.
My reference pictures show that these were held in place by some ratchet straps. The only supplier I could find that supplied these were Accurate Armour apart from a German company that wanted a minimum order value so went for AA. The etch parts are good and easy to put together. The material for the straps however is bl**dy awful, it was wider than the gaps in the etch that it was supposed to fit through and no matter what glue I tried to secure it to itself of other parts if failed to bond. Luckily I had some 2mm Tamyia masking tape and used that instead. The other advantage of the tape is you can get a bit of tension on it.
Next will be the lifting spreader bar and all the associated shackles and cables.
cheers

I'm getting disgruntled now - fortunately my dismal effort is almost finished (PS: Lovely work so far!)

The AA ratchets are good, and as you say the straps are rubbish, I used pre-painted paper for mine. The other company I know that produces ratchets are Pro Art and they are 'fun' to assemble...
Keep the good work coming, forget the plaudits, they have all been said...
Hopefully see you on the 16th...
Cheers
