Wow! There's certainly a lot to that assembly.

Yep, having been inside a couple at Bovington I can agree with that. Not unknown for the crew to pass out due to fumes either. Love the Whippet, by the way. My favourite WW1 AFV. Mind you, that’s a lot of wheels…..

Wearing thick leather clothes against accidental burns and bullet splash didn’t help there either, of course.

I wouldn’t mind building this kit. I started on the Emhar one 20+ years ago, around the time I was putting together that PDF I linked to in my first reply in this topic, but gave up because of the great amount of work needed to bring it up to scratch. In my memory, it’s more like a 1:72 scale kit enlarged to 1:35. The Meng one should be a whole lot more refined, I would expect.

BTW, Mike, does it include the rear stowage bins and/or the canvas track covers?

No, these are not included with the kit.

I hadn’t expected the track covers, except maybe as etched parts, but not including the bins seems a bit of a major omission. They’re not on absolutely all Whippets photographed in service, but were common enough that I’d expect them to be in the kit. Oh, well

Will join the gang Mike , of course I'm looking fwd Not to those tracks. Send a shiver down my back at the thought of doing any track apart from Fruil.
Bet you have no problem following those photos of the build so far.

I've completed the main parts now and primed them. I've just got to decide on the colour now as I've seen so many interpretations of the Green/Brown colour used for this and other WW1 tanks.

I've primed with a rattle can but will be brush painting as I don't have an Airbrush.

I've also removed the exhausts, which I'd previously added, for now so I can work on them separately.

Most of the detail of the rollers will be hidden under the tracks when they're added to the model.

Chair pulled up I have built a couple of meng kits and found them pretty good. Your doing a great job of this one.

Coming on very nicely so far! That is a lot of wheels though!

Finally got a bit of bench time and made some progress. I gave a single brush coat of Olive drab to the various components and then attached them. Once this had dried fully, I'll do more brush painting of the same colour and then probably apply a light brown wash or something like that.

I've also started on the tracks. So far so good they're cleaning up and clicking together nicely. I have 68 per track so it is going to be slow probably quite a dull task, but the tank needs its tracks.

Enjoying your build, I know the feeling of track assembly and multiple wheels :disappointed2:

A bit more colour added. Three brush coats in total of olive drab, then a bit of colour to the guns then started the Allied markings. I need to let the white cure before I mask up for the red coat.

It's a slow build, mainly because I don't have alot of bench time at the moment, but it's a very enjoyable one.
