Tamiya Churchill 1/35

Going to have a bash at this, will be attempting to display it as one of the few Churchills that were used in Korea. From research the "Crocodiles" were sometimes disassembled for manouverability and ended up quite shabby by the end of their sericeable life.

Will be modifying it as i go ... for example the tie-ons on the side of the turret are just flat plastic tabs, these will be changed for wire so i can tie on a real roll of fabric/canvass instead of the moulded plastic effort in the kit.

Don`t forget that by the time they went into combat they had removed the trailers and replaced the flame nozzle with a standard BESA mg.

that's the idea Malcolm. it'll be as used in Korea towards the end of the conflict. they used the flamethrower when they were first shipped out there but the trailer proved to be too cumbersome in the terrain of the theatre and in fact the flamethrower was found to be fairly useless in effectiveness so the decision was made.

so then ... built a bit up today and gave it a base coat .....

There's some nice detail on the hull to emphasise .... suspension should look better with some further painting & weathering

Got the suspension and wheels painted up and added the "worn effect" will weather it as per my usual when it's fully built and i know what substrate i'm using for the ground.

thanks Ian.... so far its a lovely kit to put together... can't see the rest of it being any different.... i'd just go and buy one if I were you .

also just noticed you get five figures in the kit ... not four as per the box text..... bonus

Just reading up on this tank Colin,did'nt realize it was considered an'infantry' tank, in all honesty I'm not well read on armor anyway. I did'nt know there were male and female tanks until joining this forum. Off to a great start so far!

What name are you putting on yours?

I seem to remember reading in a Korean Armour book one being called "Cygnet"

I think i may go with that

Remember, C SQN 7 RTR had names beginning with the letter `G`.

yep you're right Malcolm. it was Glynis ... there's another picture with "cygnet" hand painted on one of the trailers ... knew it had a "y" in it
