Those tracks look superb, Patrick. What did you use as the base colour?

        Thanks guys!

Mike, I put a basecoat of matt black on & then washes of burnt umber & burnt sienna oils over that, followed with a sludge wash of ground up pastels ( white, yellow & brown) .

Then I rubbed off the excess with an old stiff brush. Just remains to drybrush with a little gunmetal to give them a slight metallic sheen.

        Cheers

        Patrick

Thanks Ian! Separate link tracks often seem to put people off, but they're not so hard really! Personally, I hate wrestling with vinyl tracks.

Now she's looking better with the fenders on! I didn't think much of the extra fuel tanks in the kit, so I scratchbuilt empty holders from spare brass - they're not brilliant, but better than nothing! I also wanted to leave off the front track guards & added little bits of brass to allow for this :

Next is to get the casement on & prime it up ready for painting.

              Thanks for looking in

Thanks John! Those tank holders were a pig to make!

The casement & gun are on, so painting should commence tomorrow.

                  Cheers

                    Hey Patrick

You're certainly powering through this build. Lower hull looks great, nice running gear and fuel tank bands. It's just missing a dirty great big gun now!

Sounds as though you've already sorted this so I'll wait for the big unveil!

                    Great progress Patrick

Thanks guys! The primer is down now, how I hate throwing paint from rattle cans!

I'll update this with some pics when the lights better.

                          Cheers

Well I've got some paint on it - having to spray from a can isn't what I like & no matter how careful I was the paint looks too thick to me.

By the way, what's masking the tracks are a used pair of latex gloves!

In the next pics you can see how I'm using oils to vary the shades & tones of the paintwork :

The colours are looking slightly harsh in the pics, but they're much better blended to the naked eye.

                            Thanks for looking!
