1/18 Merit German Flak 36 88mm Anti-Aircraft Gun

I needed a little diversion from the Gecko Bedford as trying to fit the transparencies and the roof is trying my patience, so time for something a wee bit bigger. I think this is big enough.

Despite what is says on the box it would seem to be a Merit kit.
Sprue shots, I had to lay them out on the floor as my bench would not hold them all.

No parts count on the box but there are quite a few, some of them quite small for the size of the model, anyhoo I have made a start.

You get an idea of the size here and there are still 2 bogies to go on.

All going together rather well, no flash to speak of and just a few seam lines to get rid of where they will be seen.

So easy to get carried away with something so easy to build. The only down side is the instructions which seem to be pictures of actual kit build and the pics have been photocopied so many times they are a bit dark hiding some of the detail so you have to dry fit everything just to make sure.

    Andy.

Yes, I will need to order a gallon of black primer for this one as there are so many nooks and crannies to try and get some shadow on.

So easy to build when things are not microscopic, might need a bigger airbrush. :smiling2:

Wow, that's a big lump of gun. That's going to look fantastic

Makes my little 1/35 look a bit pathetic.

Err, big? I will measure it up later but in inches as I am too old for all this metrication nonesense.

                    Paul

Looking at one of the earlier cruciform base shots it looks like it might be nearly a foot across.....

The cutting mat is marked in centimetres It appears to be about 29 cm across the arms (both front to back and side to side).

Still a fair bit to do but these pictures are for Scottie as he asked for dimensions.

By the time it is built the black primer should be delivered.

Yep, that's a fair old size! Looks very nicely detailed too.

I'm having a problem finding my favoured black primers, might have to try something new :surprised:
