A bazillion single track links , OK, only 170 + time for a lay down in a dark corner .

Next up some wheels ....

That's some kit you've taken on. Trumpeter kits often rely on lots of small fiddly parts to provide detail. Looks as if you've made a fine start.

Hi guys , thanks for looking in . "Trumpeter kits often rely on lots of small fiddly parts to provide detail " - Yup , the bumpf says -

787 parts on 37 sprues , 21 etch metal and 4 metal pins ( to mount the rocket on the base )
As for fit , many parts almost clip together - the roadwheel/axles were a bit sloppy though , nothing major . Generally a nice precise kit :thumb2:

parts count aside , it has been a breeze so far . Famous last words perhap ! . . . .

As my intro says I will be altering the wee beastie -


Basic rocket launcher bits , as per kit .
For the earlier 811K system ,the front of the launcher will need to be removed , along with the 2 upper 'humps' on the rails.
The brush guard and ladders will get a serious talking to as well . The Missile will also get a little surgery to make it into an R-11M.
Swear box at the ready , get set . . .


Ye gods , what did I let myself in for :tongue-out3: . . .



. . . The early launcher had an extra 'kidney' type box - from scrap.



. . . Re-profiled front clamps .

And so for a little light relief . . .



The new shorterned R-11M rocket . I messed up the detail whilst hacking it about , but I'm rescribing it anyhoo .

A few details - new brush guard - I did manage to re-use the front lower half hoop ! Yay :smiling5: primed black .. .


The launcher base , getting 'welds' filler and those two missing triangular cut outs on the deflector plate .


. . . I eventually located some correct treadplate , for the early version steps . . .



. . . While I was waiting for the treadplate to arrive , I've been playing with the painting .








- Clear coated with Future. Oil washed , more Future and Decals. finnished with Revell's clear matt (rattle can, good stuff!)



Ditto , the running gear - tracks in a kinda panzer grey/brown mix , wheel rims + contact surfaces rubbed with a pencil .



. . . Plus a little mud . . .








Now onto the upper hull , still loads to do :tongue-out3: .

Thanks for looking in guys - sorry for not posting lately . However , little steps !


Plugging all the unused holes . . .


. . . and began converting some details - the left toolbox is not needed , the right one was shortened / reworked .



The winch has now got some cable and an extra shroud , compressed air cylinders are now single type.



New cabinets/lockers for the left side . . .



Electrical wire 'cables' and hooks added to the tanks.



Roket starter fuel tank and rear cabinet underway . There are many small details to do - everywhere

Hello everybodies ! It's only me again -
The Trumpy kit is no weekend jobbie , there are over 800 parts to play with . However there are no hoses, cables or their sockets etc.
So , muggins here thinks - a few tweeks won't hurt eh? ( A FEW! )



- I have already built and fitted the rocket to the cradle , this would require major surgery to add the umbilical array.
So I dodged the bullet on those :smiling5: but there are still loadsa pipes and bits to fabricate , with many bends and curves that have to be just so . . .





Here are a few pipes that come from the new reglator cabinet - and a parcel rack , from scrap PE ,

Just the bare minimum , you understand . the real heavy spaghetti is 'stowed' . ahem .

Getting there ! Time for a clear coat , washes etc. .

What a Spaghetti nightmare!!.....Tip 'O the Hat on a fabulous outcome. :thumb2: Being a retired Aircraft Mechanic I have had the experience of manufacturing replacement hydraulic lines and I completely understand how difficult it is to form that many bends with a given length of tubing, and when all is said and done, both ends wind up exactly where they are supposed to be.

Those hoses put me off the idea of building one of those big time … It’s probably the thing I dislike most in modelling: having to bend lots of pieces like that, because it’s always hard to work out what you need, how many, and where it all goes even aside from the fiddly, actual bending.
