    Tamiya SAS Willy's Jeep 1:35

I got this kit as an aside for my 12 year old son to build but he chose to get an Airfix Jaguar E-Type starter kit instead.
So I'm doing the Jeep! All I have to say is MANY MANY JERRY CANS!

Used up leftover spray paint from my 'Monty's Humber' build for jerry cans to offer up some mild colour variance. It was just the right amount for the 17 cans supplied.

Had to wait on paint from eBay so build got stalled but back underway now.

I'll pull up a chair Toby, as Paul has said, it's a nice little kit, I did one when I started the hobby again.

Thanks all. Got a fair bit done today. I think painting, selecting and fitting all the accessories will take longer than building the Jeep itself!

I quite like this old kit - have two waiting in the wings somewhere

The jerrycans are a bit rubbish in old Tamiya kits and should really have three handles and filler caps that are not blobs but of course it all depends on how accurate you wish to make it

Second kit I built and still have it with me...refurbish it and replaced with correct jerrycans and covered the not so good ones with a taupalin. Its a great little kit Toby and you'll enjoy it.

                Cheers,
                Richard

An old classic Toby. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it. Will you be doing any figures?

Moving forward so fast I forgot to stop and snap a few pics so it has really zoomed forward in photo phase.
Quite enjoying it but where to put all the little bits of kit? I have decided on a best approach and planned what will go in the back.
I did have the joy on spending 10 mins on my hands and knees looking for the tiny piece that sits in the middle of the dash above the gear-stick. At least we have wood floors in the dining room! Little sucker 'pinged' out of my tweezers just as I was about to apply the glue!

Will take a seat please Toby.
I think most of us have spent hrs on the knees searching the floor for that missing part. At least you found it.

Had a good go at it yesterday as it rained much of the day.
Not fully happy with two SAS troopers paintwork but decided to leave as is for now.
Stuck a 'stolen' Africa Corps case in the back. Also scratch built a radio from 'bits' left from the kit to help fill the jeep/
