I have been neglecting this for a while as the weather has been good so I have covered a lot of miles on the bike, but back at it now.
Time for a bit of painting.

I want the road wheels/idlers to be a bit darker so I gave them a light coat of black before the sand, not sure if it works or not, time will tell once I paint the tyres and fit them to the chassis.

The weather forecast is for more rain so I should get on with building this week.

That's a lot of kit for the scale!
        Looking neat and tidy.

Getting a bit further on today, road wheels fitted. Quite a lot of alignment issues but it will never be seen with the tracks on.

I decided not to follow the instructions to fit the tracks before fitting the drivers cab as I thought that it would be a a pain to try and paint it all afterwards. Now I find that it will be a real fight to fit the tracks when it is all assembled, they will fit, but not easily and I am liking Trumpeter a bit less today.

Perhaps I should stop moaning and make up the other track, only 168 bits to put together.

Slow progress, but progress none the less, got the engine and the windscreen fitted. Also finished the tracks, just need to paint them now. Put it together without glue to see how it looks and I am pleased with it so far.

Still not decided whether to fit the tilt or not but if I did fit it I will save on buying stuff to load it up with and after looking at Tamiya 1/12 formula 1 cars I will need to save a lot if I want one.

Stowage doesn’t need to be expensive — buy a set of jerrycans and you’ll already have a decent and plausible load, for example. Or even cheaper, put in a few random bits of wood or styrofoam cut into rectangular shapes, put a tissue tarp over them, and it looks like there’s a load of crates in the vehicle.

I had another bit of fiddling with this while waiting on other stuff. Body and cab roof just loosely fitted to see how it looks.

Still not decided on fitting/ not fitting the tilt and what to do with paintwork, weathering etc as I am still not in love with this model. However, it will take no harm sitting in a box until I decide what to do.

While waiting for something else to dry I had a go with the bed to see if I could get a proper wood effect, turned out not too bad in my opinion so I had better try to get the rest to match.
