After having a bit of a disaster with my last kit (knocked to the floor and accidentally stood on) decided to go with this wee kit from tamiya[ATTACH]403415[/ATTACH]

Not going to use any update/pe on this kit though perhaps a little scratch building as I am wanting to practice my painting technique!

The MERDC camouflage scheme is certainly a good one to do that with, yep.

If I may offer a tip: you’re not absolutely required to use the colour combinations Tamiya recommends, if forest green and field drab doesn’t do it for you See here for all allowed combinations.

I have the desert USA set from hataka, and the green set is on order... still not sure what variant i will use? I have a gama goat kit that I was thinking of using in a dio with the mutt... but as I have said, this is more for upping my technique at the moment......but yeah MERDC is the way I'm thinking..

That’s why I put it there Also, did you know the two minor colours were supposed to be hand-painted, even if the large blobs were sprayed? In practice, though, it was usually all sprayed and the small swirls often ended up far bigger than the painting instructions would have them.

Nice start Colin,
I brush painted my North Korean M-47 'Patton' tank in this camouflage (Well close enough for me anyway) in 2017. I'm sure you won't need it, but if it might be any use to you, I did a bit of a painting 'How I did it' during the build.

Hi Colin, good work on drilling the tyre hubs. To go further and what Simon would have done is to use a burr to thin the areas that you drilled from the back for scale thickness. It's okay for now but just incase you want to go further in your adventure into scratchery. :smiling3:
