    1/87 Scale 4 of a Kind WIP

Here are the first four victims to my mutilations of some 1990's vintage Roskopf 1930 Mercedes Benz L2 commercial panel deliveries. They will be representative of "retired" Reichswehr Ambulances that have been pressed into Wehrmacht service as a result of wartime vehicle shortages. I have already started the conversions but have left the vehicles disassembled for the sake of starting this thread..... then give you a catch up on what has already been accomplished as we go along. Here goes......Click image for larger version

In this next installment, I have modified and extended the exhaust system using .030 dia. evergreen styrene rod with the tailpipe end drilled out .020 to give a more realistic appearance. In the next photo the rear step was made up using HO scale perforated freight car roof walk material left over from my Model Railroad days and .010X.020 evergreen strip styrene with 45 deg. chamfer at the top. and of course the rear number board was located and installed.

Here's what they look like with the body shell back in place......gives a better idea of how the modifications effect the model overall. Rick H.Click image for larger version

Looking very nice so far. I have the usual high expectations of what you can do of these.

OK.....so here is a little more........got a brain storm since my last post! As the lid is easily removed from these little trucks, I thought it might be fun to do a little interior detail work. made a couple of stretcher racks and found some stretchers in the stash.....also filled in the back of the cab seat to create a bulkhead between the cab and crew compartment. finally I scratched out a crew seat for the stretcher bearers/ Medical personnel to sit on while in transport. I am only doing one vehicle like this, the other three will have the lids glued down........getting close to paint. Rick H.Click image for larger version

That internal Rick is awesome, full of admiration for you working in that scale. Those stretcher handles are suberb.

Thanks JR. Not as good as your cobble stone and brick work I'm afraid.....the results are stunning. Rick H.

Here's a random sample of what the "Fearsome Foursome" will look like with paint on them......looks like some miscreant has "knicked" the hood ornament on the vehicle to the right......price you pay for having an up market car I suppose. Thanks Scottie.....still working on the other two, one of which has the exposed interior....much detail painting involved so will be a while before I can post it up. Thanks again for dropping in. Rick H. :thumb2:
