Steve, always a seat at the front for you mate. I will probably do the gun as well. Roof I haven't decided yet.

Rick, twin wheels would make it look good but would probably need a narrower axle of mods to the arches.

Well this kit is not for the faint hearted. There are a lot of tiny and I mean tiny parts. The location points are also small.

I have not bothered with a full engine as I am not going to show the bonnet open so just built enough to provide location points for the transmission.

The chassis builds up into a nicely detailed rendition. The vehicle has twin spring hangers these were fun to line up. the exhaust was drilled out and a few pewter rivets added to the springs.

Work has started on the axles the front was very fiddly indeed.

Would probably just need shorter axles so that the front wheels line up with the outside rear tyres and slightly flared arches to make it look neater - if I remember my lorry driving time right, anyway

          Hi Scottie
A good neat looking start. The chassis and running gear is a good section to get under your belt - fragile and complex.

I think your probably right about Miniart kits, definitely not meant for a quick weekend build! :flushed:
A great start so far :thumb2:

Jim, Thanks mate it does give for very good detail but also for very fragile glue points.

Si, Your right there its a case of assembling a little then let it dry then add a little bit more.

The chassis is pretty much done now and all for brake drums sit on the floor which is a relief.

Unless I have missed something the engine is supported only at the front which makes for a very weak fitting.

The steering linkage is 4 pieces, the instructions would have you glue them all together prior to fitting to the chassis. This would have been a nightmare, so I stuck on each piece in turn when the glue had set up enough to hold the part but still give me some wriggle room to match the parts up.

You can see from the picture the small engine mounting block.

                cheers

It is a bit of a tester for me but hopefully the result will be worth it.

Would've expected a set of mounts at the back of the engine somewhere

I agree mate. But I don't think I have missed anything.

Must admit that it doesn't look as though anything obvious is missing - strange.

Maybe the next bit gets added somewhere far later in the instructions? Iโ€™ve only built one MiniArt vehicle kit, but that suffers from this at times: things being added to an area that it last had you work on many steps back.

I know nothing about kfz 70's but many engine/transmission systems of the 30's had engine mounts at the front & a beefy gearbox mount, relying on a decent connection between the two components.

Flathead V8 Fords went on for years with only front mounts.
