The chassis rails are together and I've made a start on the engine, there was no flash at all and everything a perfect fit.
Next is to build the axles then paint them along with the chassis before fitting as the exhaust pipes fit between them, won't be doing to much detail on the engine as it won't be seen.

Mark, looking good so far. I would leave of detailing the engine too if it's going to be closed up but that sadly looks like a nice piece to really go all the way with detailing.

Cheers,
Richard

Mark,
it's a common thing with ICM, they supply you with a decent engine, but the construction won't let you show any of it! the Renault AHN is a perfect example
nice engine.......................

BUT, there is no way you can see it! I assume that work on the engine was done via panels inside the cab, or the engine was dropped out

Pardon me for adding my photos, but I find this on all the ICM models - the engine is great, but all it does is locate the exhaust pipe & prop shaft!

It's a shame really, they needn't have supplied much more than a sump and gearbox!

Got their Studebaker in the stash, haven't even opened the box, so will need to check - might have to see about a 'engine check' dio if it's a detailed one

Gerry,
the Studebaker is one of ICM's early models & not as detailed as their later efforts, but it does have a complete engine - the real thing has a one piece bonnet, so it should be possible to show it propped open. The other early model that you may see is the Ural, that makes a nice model, but is crude by today's standards

Turns out the exhausts will fit after the axles so other than a couple of very small bits of tidying chassis is ready for primer and paint.Click image for larger version

I find it difficult to decide when to paint, on the softskin builds, early on, or later, when areas may be obscured by later added parts - either way it means touching up! On Soviet trucks the chassis & running gear, everything below the bodywork is black, which saves a lot of hassle............

Chassis is same as body colour on this so you could pretty much paint in one if you wanted to, I'll probably paint cab floor separate as I might do a door open so a bit of wear and tear instead possibly.

Couple more progress pics, going together OK :thumb2: I'm going with drivers door open and going to try my luck with the chipping fluid in the cab for a bit of light wear and tear, fingers crossed it works out, haven't decided weather to go for chips in steel or primer colour yet.Click image for larger version
