    Rick's 1/87 scale Daimler Benz 6500 Kitbash

It's been awhile since I posted a build thread, so I thought you might enjoy seeing how I manage to get a nonexistant model from two existing models.......does not seem very economical but necessity has become the mother of invention in 1-87 scale. I started with a Wiking Mercedes Benz 10000 and a Wiking Krupp Titan. As in the photo only the cab and frame (cut just behind the running board) of the 10000 will be used. The frame and bed (cut just behind the running board) of the Krupp will finish out the roughed in assembly. In the mating of these two parts the scale wheel base of 16'3/4'' is achieved. Q&C's welcome. Rick H.Click image for larger version

Thanks Paul, a simple conversion with a miter box. Takes about 20 minutes if you keep 'em square they join up nicely with a tie plate on top of the two halves to give 'em strength. Thanks for stopping by, Rick H.

Very nice work there Rick but i liked it as a three axel job as it matches the streched engine bonnet but thats just me but if you are happy Rick then thats all that matters

                Hi Rick
Very neatly done. Could you join the other two bits to make another truck?? :rolling: :tongue-out3:

Yes there they are you might have been fine tuning them when I was looking. Very nice just pulled up a chair looking for JR and keeping a eye on Andrew. Iโ€™ve heard JR is giving him lessons in pyrotechnics. Lol.

Hi Jim, I could but I will probably use the large cargo box to build a trailer to tow behind it. Rick H.

Thank you Mr Jones. I honestly wish I didn't have to do it but these 1/87 scale manufacturers are woefully deficient in 1930's and '40's trucks. Thanks for stopping by, Rick H.
