Guys. Here is the final build

As Dave wrote, the airbrush at 35-40 psi makes it walk very nicely.

I did find that if I pushed the shaft with the sails on it fully into the plastic then the shaft tended to stick, and I will glue tthe plastic sail onto the frame rather than the double-sided tape provided with the kit.

Other than that, a fun thing to build. A bit different and a bit silly, but fun.

here is a short video of it moving - video
Now it is back to busts.

        Hi Peter
Your link to the video won't let me see it. I would love to see it and the link earlier is amazing. Agree with Simon in that there is something creepy about them.

None of your links work for me - are your settings allowing public viewing?

Hi. No idea what I am doing wrong.

Here is a link to somebody elses video of the same kit: Here which hopefully will work.

I have no idea whaT I am doing wrong when trying to add a video link. Perhaps the best is to Google "Mini Strandbeest Kit" videos, there are quite a few of the same kit.

Or try 'cut and paste' this: https://www.facebook.com/1852119394825709

My guess, like I hinted at above, is that it’s to do with Facebook. I don’t use it myself for various reasons (which is also why I’ve not tried viewing the video you posted there), but I suspect it could be with who you’ve allowed to view the video in the first place.

It does. As an added tip, if you just paste the URL to a YouTube video on a line by itself, the forum here embeds the video into your post:

That embedded video works fine Peter. Interesting kit.

                              At last!

I must admit, it is not something I would have bought, but my nephews tend to find unusual presents for me and it was a fun evening putting it together. Sort of where insects meet engineering meets art. Goodness knows where you would start the design process, facinating engineering.

Still I bet you had fun building it. I had a look on that UTube link, they were amazing.
