    Microscale Ind. Micro Sol.

i am aware of micro sol,but is it good enough to lay a decal down on a crash helmet,i tried to put on the eagle decal for the tamiya kenny roberts helmet, there was no way that was going to go down flat

In my limited experience it works a treat.

Have you pictures of the part and decal? A touch of Microset on the part, decal on and press lightly into place. Dry off and then gently apply microsol with brush, let that dry, resist the urge to touch the decal and repeat as necessary.

Someone with more experience may have further tips and thoughts.

Even in my limited experience that is easily achievable with those products. Just do as I said above unless anyone else has further suggestions.

microSet on the helmet first, soak decal, apply with a damp brush to the helmet and gently pat her down with a brush pre dipped in microset removing all bubbles. If the edges are not perfect don't worry the microsol will confirm them in the next step. Let the decal dry- possibly with a very very gentle heat from a hairdryer. (Dont blow the decal off, hold the drier too close or let the decal get more than slightly warm). Once dry use a brush dipped in microsol and gently brush it on the decal, allow the decal to soften and don't touch it again! wipe off excess microsol on the part (not the decal) with water Hit it with the hair drier as before and if needed repeat that last step. Don't keep brushing the decal, it will be soft and fall apart. Let the heat of the drier and the first brushing on of microsol do the job.

I'd say yes, I had to put the Hog nose on the front of my A-10, very close the to same curves I see in your pictures with no issues at all

                I agree with the above

However, I forgo the water side.

I use a small dish and put a small amount of microset in there and dip the decal in.

Take it straight out and put it on the table. in about a minute or so, it will have released, and you can place it directly into the area. I don't wet really curved difficult areas as I find it allows the decal to let go again.

Once in position, I use a wet (with micro set) cotton bud and gently push the edge round. If they won't go, don't fight it, just make sure the centre of the decal is in the right place and its level.

Then apply with a brush some Microsol directly onto the outside of the decal. Leave it for about five mins, it will soften right up. Use the wet brush and push the decal onto the helmet bend, be careful as when it's got Microsol on it the decal becomes very easy to destroy.

Once it's in some relevance of in place, leave it alone, overnight if poss. It will wrinkle, look bad and you'll want to touch it DONT!

Next day it will have pulled down as much as it could on the helmet. If there are any areas that are creased or not down, air Bubbles etc, just rewet with Microsol leave five mins and gently cotton bud them down. Again leave for a few hours to set.

But you must remember to set the decal after its finished and you're happy with some varnish/klear
