    Advice on poss upgrades

    Hi chaps and chapesses

At the weekend went with the good lady to the local garden centre antiques etc, was told to go wander blah blah and came across a treasure trove of old stuff ( antiques and brick o brack. Saw a 1/48 Airfix Grumman prowler E6 ( £5 ) and a ESci STarfighter (£2:50)nsomsnapped them up.

However doing a bit of checking and the prowler although all there seems to be a very old kit and will need upgrading considerably to make good ( defo cockpit upgrade with big glazing there and possibly weopans? ( defo new decals) Advice on this please

ESci Starfighter F104C hmmmmmm well this is an old kit it's in silver plastic ( seems to be all there but no cockpit glazing and will defo need a cockpit upgrade as very basic and in need of talc and possibly afterburner, weapons possibly upgrading to more refined detail.

    Any advice on this too

Or should I just head for the skip!!

An alternative Robert to the skip keep for bits and pieces. Amazing break or lose a piece and there is usually a piece in my spares I can adapt.

Spot on laurie I am thinking along same lines. On my desk at moment is a Blackburn Roc Special hobby ( 1/72) and the kit features a straight back behind the turret and not a step, which is not in the design. So I cut out the straight back piece and reshape it with a piece of an old Blenheim wing and a bit of squaddie green and mr surfaced and heh presto the back has a step in it as it should have when the hood is lowered. Pics show what I mean I hope

I find Robert that it is very rewarding and satisfying to produce a missing or messed up piece. Not all the time. Do not think I have the patience to produce a model from scratch.
