    A question of scale?

Please can anyone tell me if a 1/35 sacle model is larger in physical size than a 1/48.

My reason being I have just bought the Tamiya 1/35 Opel Blitz Cargo truck and am really struggling with its size. Its a first time building a military truck and was quite looking forward to it but will surely struggle with painting and detailing.

    Any advice please, thank you.

1/35 is larger than 1/48. For instance, a Bf109 in 1/48 has a wingspan of 8". A Bf109 in 1/32 (pretty close to 1/35) has a wingspan of 12". Or, a Sherman tank in 1/48 is approx 4.75" long and a Sherman tank in 1/35 is approx 7.25".

Does the Opel seem kind of small? I have mostly built 1/35 scale tanks, especially when I was younger, and I remember the first time I build a Jeep in 1/35 scale, it seemed tiny when compared to the tank kits.

Brett, I think you have hit the nail right on the head. I was used to building tanks and aircraft in my day (about 30 years back ) but like a lot of us on here have fairly recently got back into the hobby. Cricky how you lose your sense of feel from your fingers and as for the eye sight ----- well !!

Detail may well be a thing of the past for me now, but so long as I enjoy the hobby and forget competitions then all is well.
