    Stupid question time.

this is probably a dumb question but i need some advice.

When painting small parts already off the sprue, so like when you have built up a tank, then you strip it down to paint it, how do you attach parts to cocktail sticks? I tried blutack but as soon as you start painting, they fall off!!

I can attach wheels, and obvious ones, but some are flat, or long thin parts. Do i just superglue them to the end of a stick??

    Sorry if this sounds daft!

With blu tak I took it in my palms to warm it up & that helps make it sticky. Another method I use is using a lollipop stick & a loop of masking tape, sticky side out - useful for larger parts.

And supergluing bits to cocktail & lollipop sticks works too if the part has a side that won't be visible infection it's attached to the tank.

Double sided tape on a coffee stirrer/lollipop stick works well on parts with a flat surface. I bought this one:

You can sometimes drill a small hole into a surface that won't be seen and glue in a piece of wire or wedge a cocktail stick.

PS There's no such thing as a stupid question - although there is a seemingly infinite number of stupid answers!

Forgot to mention you can also use small crocodile type clips (John sells them) attached to the end of a barbecue skewer. As a last resort you could always just attach one end to your cocktail stick, paint the other end, then flip it round when the paint has dried.

It depends on the part.. Where I can I use a cocktail stick with the point cut off and glue the part on with either superglue or PVA, normally they snap off easily when the time comes (shear rather than pull). Slightly bigger bits blu-tack. For parts like wheels you can often just push onto a pointed cocktail stick. Wooden barbecue skewers can also be used cut to size, these are larger in diameter which can be useful.

Thanks everyone, i think the superglue answer is the one that will work for the little parts i was thinking anout, but wanted to check before i ended up glueing cocktail sticks to everything, and ended up with a T-60 porcupine!
