    display case

Nearly finished making two display cases that can be split or stacked as shown I had the glass for the outside so I designed the rest around that just ordered the shelves from 5mm acrylic this will hold 14 48 scale ww2 aircraft I'm fed up with cleaning dust off models anyway this means I can crack on and build more coz I have more space now lol

    That's very nice.

You've made something not dissimilar to the one I have on the landing upstairs which came, I think, from IKEA.

I'm thinking, now, that I need to figure out a way of adding more shelves

    Cheers

ive got two of those.....what i did was buy some perspex sheet and cut to a square similar to the glass shelves, then used some 10mm square wood to make some 'goal post' shape....one either side holds up the perspex....doubles up my sheves

however that was when i didnt have access to a lathe......these days id make some ally 'legs' and thread them so they become legs one at each corner with a screw going through the perspex....hope that makes sense

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been

Well I don't have a lathe...but I do have a chap who will cut some nice glass shelves for me at a very reasonable price. I'm off working again next week but will definitely look into it.

          Cheers

Hi Steve I was going to get an ikea one and add more shelves by making up some small brackets that sandwich bolt to the steel verticals

Get acrylic sheet the right size for shelves, and if you havent got a lathe, then use acrylic rod as legs, will glue nicely together for sturdy shelves in between steve,
