Im back and Bertie is in WW1 ideas now

Hi guys
I’m back after what seems an eternity but now at 50 I’ve decided to stick to what I enjoy most
Aircaft!!
I’ve taken a notion for WW1 and am in process of building my first Wing nut wings model
Sopwith Dolphin 1/32
Also Ive got a few 1/28 scale Revell kits namely the SE5A avd Camel or are they 1/48
Also got the Fokker DR1 and that’s on 1/28

A big influx of refugees from a now defunct forum since you last posted. We have done our best to integrate and let me be the first of the newcomers to welcome you back.
WW1 aircraft are not the easiest things to build but are striking when complete. Rigging is certainly a big test. I have only ever done one - Eduard Airco DH.2. Wingnut Wings are reckoned to be the best. I look forward to seeing your Sopwith Dolphin.

Well I have really thought long and hard over the WW1 themes and after visiting a few long time red books I said to the good lady do you think I could build something like that ( first one I liked was the dolphin 5f .1
Did a little big of research and found that wingnut wings did a 1/32 ( a little bit pricey but.....
then the bug hit me.
All other projects that were on the bench have since been allotted to the loft, and it’s this now all the way.
Had my 50th birthday while on hols and visited Bovington tank museum. It was really special but the WW1 displays really took my breath away and also shed a few tears too ( no shame there ).
Rigging will be a challenge but I’m quite confident that with the right tools and lots of patience I can succeed ( no parrot jokes).
Here’s to bodging my first of many WW1 kits

I missed the forum but my wife’s health had taken a downward turn but she’s now on the mend and has given me new zest for modelling. I thought I’m going back to the forum and glad I did!!!
We had a clear out of a lot of old stuff but a lot of my tanks stuff has gone in the loft for another time ( I have to be honest I’m happier with wings stuff )
Seeing as it’s the RAF 100th anniversary got talking to the wife and thought I should try something like that ( build a biplane )
Flicking through some ref books came across the dolphin ( strange almost ugly duckling kind of biplane ) but said I’ll look fir that and got the bug straight away
Found a WNW kit ( a little pricey but....
so onwards
I also got a few more kits as it was my 50th in June only one 1/32 biplane so far but the kit is really beautifully crafted.
Other kits in my new stash are
Sopwith F1 Camel ( Revell 1/48
SE5A ( Revell 1/48
Eduard 1/48 Airca
Eduard 1/48 albatros Diii
Fokker DViii
Stearman PT-17 kaydett ( not officially WW1 )

I’m looking forward to them but I’ll betaking it slow and steady, getting the wood grain is very time consuming but relaxing.

My first attempt at rigging
This is my first rigging for my Sopwith Dolphin
It’s internal rigging so will rarely be that seen. Although being a WW1 open cockpit the keen eyed will see.
I used EZ line with minimal pull on the elastic so not to stretch too much but keep a steady tightness while CA was applied.
Once the other side is complete I’ll tidy up and weather the whole area lightly.

I have moved the thread over to Aircraft under construction .
It's the first time I've built a Wingnut wings Bi plane and I have to say they are very well,engineered and surprisingly easy to follow. I just wished they were not so damn expensive but I'm definatly going to build another onve this one gets compleated.
