Do they stock in the UK ? I noticed that Eduard is in Czeh R. But in any case it's fun researching all of this.

Which ICM JU88 and Heinkel were you thinking of Dave ? I like the look of the Dornier as well. I think one of those 3 will be my first foray.

Quick question on paints. i guess I can check colours from the box and then refer to the shop. Does anyone do a general paint kit/collection of the more common paints or is it just buy as you need ?

Gary. Any of the ICM Ju88, He111 or Do215 kits are great. Choice is yours.

Paint wise Vallejo and Ammo do box sets of German and Allied WWII colours (Acrylic paints). Other then that i tend to buy as i need. There is a thread in the Paint Section that gives you places to go for paint conversions between the different manufacturers.

Using the SMS shop (above in banner) also gives you all you need kits, weathering, paints wise and because you are a member, a 5% discount

I'm all excited now. Those Ju88's look superb I might well go for one and a Dornier.... I do like my twin engine planes. I'll buy a box set of paints and think about what colours to use. Helps that my daughter is a professional artist for colour mixing help should I need it.

          Hi Gary and welcome.
For ships try flyhawk models. They are stunning kits mainly 1/700 and come as standard(no etch) or deluxe(with etch).
You can get them at Starling Models.

Accessories you say? Check out a shop called Hannants. Remember to leave your wallet at the door when you do though!

                    Gary,
paint sets - most of the major paint makers do sets, like this https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/pro...set-a-mig-7220 - which gives you most of your specific colours. Add to this the basics - black, white, brown etc., and you're sorted
I use acrylics, water based, easy to use & clean up - no smell, but the traditional oil-based enamels are still widely used
                    Dave

Sure, if you order within the next four weeks or so

I would advise you to buy paints as you need them. You could check what the manufacturer recommends (which may or may not be a brand you can get in your local shop) or do more research into the colours of the real thing and buy your own interpretations of those.

I think I'll buy a very basic set Jakko and supplement as you say with specific colours. I'm certainly keen to do my own variations on a theme rather than always stick to the expected colours. Nothing outrageous but some subtle creativity. I like the spray option as well so will look at some air brushes when I get really going. I'll brush initially though
