Clean up after spilling AK panel liner

So I accidentally spilt my AK panel liner on the desk and some dripped onto the carpet. I tried using white spirits amongst other things to get it out of the carpet but I can still see some of the brown looking stain. Does anyone know of anything better to use or any methods to remove this stuff?

Sure once the SO gets to you you'll not have to worry..............

I got paint on our (White) blinds and made things worse by cleaning them with a wet sponge, fine on the slats but made the paint wick into the fabric of the ladder tapes. Had to replace the tapes.
(Correction, have bought replacement tapes but am yet to strip down the blinds to install them.)

The only way to remove a stain from a carpet is to make the area wet with a suitable solvent, then wick the solvent out with something absorbent. Dabbing at it or rubbing it (What most people do) does two things. It creates an ever expanding tide mark and bursts the carpet pile so changing the appearance of the finish in the “cleaned” area. I would test whatever solvent you use in an inconspicuous area first, then soak the stained area with it and wick the solvent away with a clean J cloth or similar. This may take several applications. If white spirit doesn’t work try airbrush cleaning fluid or dry cleaning fluid. Finish by going over the damaged area with a carpet cleaner to restore the pile. If it’s a light carpet and a dark stain it may prove impossible to completely eradicate the stain. Sorry I can’t be more help.

Fortunately the carpet is medium grey so hides it to some extent. I think I got most of it out in the end but you can still see where it was but sadly that is probably as good as it will get I think. Have to be more careful
In future. Good job it was me and not my 9 year old son or else I’d of Hit the roof.

If the carpet is in your own workshop or shed it is probably best left to dry out, let the fumes dissipate and not bother about it. Phew!

IF! On the other hand it happens in the house you may come up against the law of domestic opposition from which believe me there is no escape!
          1. Attempt to hide or go away maybe for a week, but problem will not go away and you will have to face up to it upon returning!
          2. Attempt to clean it up, but resign yourself that this is often doomed to failure due to lack of industrial chemical and cleaning knowledge.
          3. Admit to how careless/stupid you have been to have been using such a product in the house.
          4. Do not make excuses as they will not be accepted.
5, Be prepared to seriously grovel. (apologies however may still not be accepted).
6, Get ready for the cold shoulder treatment (generally lasts 1 to 3 days). Door slamming, dismissive replies, conversation, gorgon stares etc.
          7. Be prepared for a serious dent in wallet or credit card to either replace the carpet. Buy appeasement presents. Or both!

IF! You survive this, a pint or stiff whisky might be in order.

              Noel,

Spoken like a true gentleman and you hit every point except one.....

Carl, Stain the rest of the carpet with the panel liner so it looks like it was made that way in the design!.......Ok, maybe not!!!

Can I get up off the floor now as my ribs are killing me from laughing over Noel's post!!!!!!!!!!

              Prost and Good Luck

He's probably sorted it out by now, but I would have blamed the cat.

Incidentally, same set of domestic opposition rules apply to airbrushing in the house!
Think you got the over spray sorted by placing generous amounts of newspaper or cardboard box spray booth around what you are spraying? Wrong!
Without proper spray booth with extractor and filters you are doomed, DOOMED!
Why? Next morning when you get interrogated where all the red (or any other colour) dust has come from that has settled all over every single surface in the house except where the newspaper or cardboard box spray booth was, you just might wish the ground had swallowed you whole!
He prepared for types of domestic opposition as outlined in my last post!
