I have the Neil's system as the desired end state , but I'm still far far away from it and, for the moment, positively contributing to the universal level of entropy :disappointed2:.
Keeping spare bits.

:tears-of-joy: :tears-of-joy: :smiling2::smiling6:...Oh dear I guess I'm either organised or dis-organised so I do keep them and do sometimes use them if I can remember where I put them.
After each project I sift through the dust, shavings and whatever to save anything I think will come in handy like even bits of plastic strip that I need not have to cut to fit but inevitably I'll just cut a new piece. Borderline hoarder I suppose but some bits have helped.
We're not alone! :smiling6:

I've got 45 years' worth , all organised -wheels,bombs ,canopies, tiny bits, arms, legs, heads etc. etc.
I've hardly used any of it, of course , but you can bet your life if I throw it out I will want something from it!

It's what I do when the mojo wanes. Sort & store stuff. 1/87 allows for lots of stuff in little space. Having lots of stuff allows for fast scratching/semi-scratching. 60 years of modeling RR & military makes for a lot of stuff. Much has been used up in this latest RR layout. PaulEComment

I used to keep destructions but stopped doing it once it got pointless....quite easy to find instructions online nowadays...... I have got all the unused decals from every kit I’ve built....rarely comes in useful like most of the things I keep :smiling5:Comment

I have a bunch of box fronts on the wall of my hobby room, that I put up there a looong time ago when I was mainly building Vietnam War models. I still have at least one copy of the instruction sheets of all kits I’ve ever built, only throwing away ones I know I already have in the pile. Unfortunately, the magazine rack I’ve been using for that is overflowing. And I’ve also got two plastic ice cream boxes with unused decals, one for military vehicles and one for everything else (which means it’s mostly aircraft).Comment

Boxes go in the bin. Enough problem storing the finished item.
Plus the box always looks better than my models. :tears-of-joy: Binned I sleep better.

You can tell the Nerds ! I love being one. MInd it does rely on having the room in the cave to do it.
