Regards the magnification thing, I use one of these off eBay, (cheapy (about £6.50) but works for the inside of watches as well) up to 3.5x magnification.

Stu just love your narrative. Very funny. Brings back memories.

Also a Stewart but surname. Bit of history. Stewart was derived from two brothers who came over from Brittany (touching distance from Jersey my abode) with William the Conqueror & dispatched to Scotland as High Stewards. Hence Stewart. No truth in the rumour that Nicola Sturgeon was their mother but Alec Salmond was definetly their father.

Stuart. Mary Queeen of Scots (Nicola Sturgeon was her mother) was despatched to France to be educated as England & Scotland were at logger heads, nothing changes. The French cannot pronounce "W" (good reason for leaving the EU phew) So Mary was dumped back in Scotland as a Stuart. Edinburgh types changed to Stuart. Glasgow types stayed Stewart.

          Hi Stu
Modelling is no different to any other hobby. You do it because you enjoy it, you study and learn and get better. What suits you will be an amalgamation of all you read, see and admire. Practice makes perfect so each model will increase you knowledge. For me and many others being part of a forum is a vital part of their hobby and this forum is one of the best.

One point worth mentioning as Jim R was saying.

Get what you want from model making!

I have several kits that I just made and under-coated, never going to paint them, I just needed to build something.
So maybe to get yourself into making stuff have fun putting the kits together, and move on to paint when you are ready??

Yes have some feeling with that. I definetly like building putting it altogether. Plus filling sanding. Least, although not awful, painting.

But I have to paint as I have gone so far & must see it on the shelf. Satisfaction.

Just like that last piece of toast in the morning. Don't need it but just have the inclination that I have to finish it.

Have to agree. Sometimes you just need to build, sometimes you need to paint, and sometimes you need to do both. Whatever floats your boat. PaulE

I've just ordered a headset actually, once it arrives I'll give you a quick review.

Which type have you ordered? With the one I've got, the batteries didn't come with it (3 x AG10)

I went for a rechargeable one from Mr Bezos. Hate having to mess around with batteries. It makes the unit more compact, although it was a bit more expensive than those suggested above. Bonus is the tweezer set it comes with.

Linky doesn't work for me on the phone (might work on the PC though) I'll have a look, just ordered a set of tweezers (from a watch/jewelry place I use) as well as a pack of batteries for mine.
Edit found it - nice setup :thumb2:

Yes, think that someone commented on one of the adverts for them with something like 'painting with a mop' - certainly shows up any mistakes!

You're not kidding. Same as taking photos with a pro camera, they pick up every imperfection. I put it down to "battle damage".
