    Anyone advise on this?

    Hi guys,

I've perused the Internet but I've got no definitive answer.

    .. anyway, I've inherited a tin of 'Butanol -1-ol'

It was given to me and by an old friend who's brother, a keen modeller, had passed, as it was flammable she didn't want it kicking about so it was given to me as she thought it might come in handy?!

It smells very strong and reminds me airbrush cleaner....

So, my learned colleagues, anyone have a scooby?!!

Butanol is an alcohol comprised of a four-carbon structure with the chemical formula C4H10O. It has been primarily used as a solvent found in paints and can also be utilized as a fuel.

Main ingredient I believe in Tamiya Paint Retarder.

      Google is your friend.
Was used for cleaning things, I'd imagine.

As a retarder it slows down the drying of tamiya acrylic paint.
It is a thinner ( beware of the fumes ) if you search using google for ''tamiya acrylic retarder" ( £4.78 for a small jar ) you will find some discussions on another model making website.
