Yup, agree with all of that.

So apologies to you all, as I've failed miserably to even keep up to date in a small way with everything going on here.....:sad-face:

My bench is depressingly empty...save for my study material, as you can see.*** But the end is in sight!! :smiling::smiling::smiling::smiling::smiling::smil ing::smiling:

I’ve surprised myself and am well ahead of where I thought I would be.

I did the online test part the day it opened (Monday). I had planned to do a couple of nights' revision and sit it tonight but decided on the spur of the moment to get it over and done with.
25% of the overall marks come from it. There were 25 questions and I had an hour, to do them in....basically a series of short scenarios.

But I'm most surprised about the 2000-2500 word assignment. This accounts for 75% of the overall marks and the final draft is already done!! :surprised::surprised::surprised::surprised:

I'm going to print it off at work tomorrow and then put it to one side for a week before a final read through and submission late next week but still a few days ahead of the deadline of the 5th - no one is more surprised than me!!

The good news is that I have already select my next victims as a welcome back double bill!!

And thanks again for all the messages of support along the way.

      ATB

      Andrew

***The bench is though still nicely messy!:tongue-out3:

A perfect bench / table ( folding type) Andrew so pleased to see you are up holding the Untidy Bench Clubs standards.

Glad to read the studying is going well . Will you be offering your services to the forum ?
Agree with Andrea and Doug about reading it through. :thumb2:

Know what you mean. The hardest part was getting the word count down to the limit without losing the key points.

Fortunately, the structure is by and large defined by the nature of the question and so that final read through will be for spelling, grammar and syntax as you say.

The hardest part was the referencing. There are 33 footnotes in total.....25 are in the 1st third!!

          Waspie....oh definitely done that!!

My boss has now read it twice.....whilst he's not a subject matter expert, he is VERY well qualified to take a dispassionate view. He left school with no qualifications and one teacher fully expected him to end up in prison.....

.....he went back for the 30 year reunion and caught up with the same teacher......in that time, he had married the head girl of his year, got a Batchelor of Law Degree, obtained his Masters of Law and passed the Bar exam meaning he is a fully qualified barrister.

Unlike me then! Left school at 15, no qualifications. Here I am at 71, still unqualified!! but in real terms I can navigate helicopters, known to fly one or three, (no pilots license!!), held a few management posts and live happily - when I'm allowed!!! (Subject to completion of SWIMBO's tasks!!!)
Although I do have a few less formal quals. A fair handful of C&G certificates.
Hate to be a young un these days, without a fistful of GCSE's or the like your doomed!!

Trying the 'Nightshift' method on a base. A sort of before and after. First time I have tried it and I'm sold. Seeing lots of bits to improve, but a muuuch better effect already. Click image for larger version

Pulled this out of storage last week and put some base coat paintwork down.
Using Colourcoats enamels for the first time, they spray absolutely beautifully but not having the same level of success with a brush.

I have a similar sight sitting on my workbench And I notice you also didn’t feel like cleaning up the engine deck hatch stays.

Will you be adding the actual fascine?

I thought the method Nightshift does on his groundwork was what all diorama builders do. You can't just take real dirt and shop bought static grass as final colours or sprinkling...everything has to be repainted. Nice to see someone finally showing how it's done, step by step.

Anyway on my desk is an Ewok that I'm scratching for my old Speederbike dio. At the moment I'm bulking up the armature with two part putty next to the rough sketch for scale.

Whilst I also love his work, because he's so popular and uses so many different techniques, if one does something in a similar way it's automatically assumed that you're copying him.

I'd give a limb for a fraction of his talent, vision and dedication though :smiling5:

Very true Andy, basically what he's doing is what's been done for donkey years by others just that he's actually physically showing it on video how it's done making it look so easy. He has talent for sure and knows painting skills. Good thing he tells it's not done in real time...it takes a while. I like his short cuts and importance of a well made base finish with wood veneer and double sided tape.

                                Cheers,
