There's a model show and competitions on at the Darlington stadium tomorrow, I'll try and find a couple 1/144 models while I'm there.
Whats your preferred subject colin ? I can recommend some nice kits ( as long as they're aircraft ! ) cheers tony

I’ve built a number of 1:144 scale tanks as well, mostly some 15 years ago, and I kind of like them for being small and quick I put some of them on little dioramas on 50 mm wargame bases:

Well, small and quick … the last 1:144 scale model I built was this one:

Oh yeah, and I have a Karl-Gerät in the stash in this scale too. Been wanting to build it but never got round to it, probably because it’s such a big, complicated kit compared to other armoured vehicles

I was never a plane builder even though I like them due to space. But this very small size has grabbed my interest in them.
I love the Phantom as it was the first model I ever got as an eight year old, and has a nostalgic feel to it for me.
I like the Harrier and the top gun type, it's name escapes me.
The EE lightning, again my Dad used to test the pilots in the pressure tank at Akrotiri , and they were there at the time. I used to get shown around them which fixed them in my mind.
The A7 Corsair, again everything seems to have a nostalgic feel for me.
The red Arrows , as we used to watch them practice of Episkopi cliffs as they flew around over the happy valley or tunnel beach areas. Probably off tunnel beach, but it was a long time ago.
Those are my favourite planes off the top of my head.
The small size has even got me looking at military vehicles like the Ferret or Armoured car,? But I have a leaning to the Raf, ground crews, refueling crews ect or figures too.

I have only built this Revell landing ship in 1/144, but I do have a few larger planes in the stash. Perhaps we should have a 1/144 group build some time..

Colin, I've built a few 1/144's of various sorts. There are plenty to choose from including some very nice commercial aircraft and most are excellent little kits......

I think Nick's idea is great, so how about jumping in the deep end and propose a 1/144 Group Build?

It would be good to see how many different types of kit the lads come up with. There is certainly a huge choice.

Just be very careful, there are some awful 1/144 stuff out there.....

                Cheers.

Or if you fancy ww2 stuff then the snap together kits from Zvezda are a great intro - not many parts at all but very nicely detailed, you might have to get some better decals though as the ones included are very generic . For superbly detailed kits then Sweet do a good range of ww2 fighters , usually 2 kits in each box and a good selection of decal options , dont be fooled by the cartoon box art though , theyre fantastic little kits , hope this helps cheers tony

There was a time I drooled over the 1/24 mosquito, and the Harrier from years ago even the spitfire recently. I once saw an attack chopper that size a long time ago that I would have loved.
Maybe one day I'll get one, though its way out of my skill to do a good job.
And now with space being limited I'm going down the opposite in size.
But the larger size still has a fascination to me.
It doesn't mean never again , but I'll try and resist for the time being.

I do like that Harrier, and I've been browsing , probably wrongly, for 1/144 and can't seem to find that many.

Like moulding an early canopy to do all the MiG-21 prototypes and variants...

Ooh, did someone suggest a 1/144 GB. Maybe I'll propose one in a couple of months time

I left the model show disappointed as there were no 1/144 I was after.
So I got a couple off Amazon.
