Hi all, I am new here and modelling. I have got a Tamiya CB750F kit to make and was just wondering what is the best filler/putty that I would need for joining seams etc.

I normally use car body filler, which comes in fairly large tubes that give you a lot more putty for your money than model putty does
However, if you want specific model filler, then Tamiya white putty is very good, and I also like Revell Plasto, but with the latter you would do well to squeeze all the glue-like stuff out of the tube before using it. An unopened tube of Plasto usually has a big puddle of it on top of the putty, and you can get most of that out easily enough. If you instead mix it, you’ve got a thin, wet putty that I don’t like much, but if you do squeeze it out you get a much drier putty. -
I like Perfect Plastic Putty. It is water based so clean up is straightforward, sands easily to a feather edge and dries quickly. The one downside, I find, is the finish is more absorbent than the surrounding styrene and so when painted you can sometimes see where the filler is. Mostly it's not an issue but if you think it may be then just brush paint over the filled area with paint to seal it prior to priming.Comment

Like others have said, a good basic putty like Revell's plasto (which is what I use) is good for filling steps and large gaps is a good start, along with a water based putty such as Perfect Plastic Putty is great for fine gaps and filling gaps around canopies etc.Arnold Judas Rimmer BSc SSc
