Will have to wait a little longer! The software used to create the files for the printer ( G codes ) is called CURA - I had an old version supplied with the printer - but when I ran it, 'update available', so wanting the latest version I downloaded it, After a 20 min download - I ran it - it took about 3/4 hour - then it decided that apparently my PC can't support the latest release. No problem, go back to the older version, but no, that had been over written by the latest version. I've just spent about 30 minutes getting rid of the files ( and doing a little file sorting ) to get back to the place I was at 08:30 when I turned my computer on! What was a short job has expanded to fill the morning. Updates in software and a glacially slow internet connection.....................
I'd normally jump onto the laptop - but guess what? I'd started a Windows update on that before turning on my PC ( it's just about finished that! ). One of those days that you get the impression that someone, somewhere is trying to tell you something! Now, excuse me, I'm just going out to kick a cat - if I can find one

I feel your pain Dave, Cura is constantly being updated, and I have been bitten like that myself. I never delete the old version until I know the new one works ok. There is an option before you install to not overwrite, but obviously it was too late for you. I would have struggled to get back to where ii was beforehand, so kudos my friend!.

1. before installing new software get windows to do a ''create a restore point''
2. if new software messes up , do a system restore to that point , a lot faster and gets rid of all the files that were added.
Not sure why a more modern cura wouldn't work , its not been updated that much in terms of hardware requirements, but may need up to date graphics card drivers.
What was the error ?Comment

Make sure you know preset info ( print area , etc ) as you will need to set up a profile for your printer

hahahaha - I'd just finished watching that same video, when I read your post! Like all of those how-to videos, it's made to look easy - I'm going to give PrusaSlicer 2.5.0 a whirl

I've heard good things about it but never used it. My first printers were Ultimakers so I've stuck with Cura ever sinceComment
