    Plasticard anyone?

    Want some cheap plasticard?

I get through these like Ron gets through pizzas! Cleaned out (make sure the water is not too hot or you'll end up with a misshapen blob!) they make useful storage boxes for bits and bobs and sub-assemblies for kits in progress.

They're made from styrene which, according to my old micrometer, is about 0.3mm thick. They are about 200 x 150 x 90 mm you can get some decent size pieces.

The last time I boiled poly card (about 2 mm thick) to shape it it remained rigid, indicating that its softening temp. is above 100 C. When I put it in the oven at a lowish setting it certainly softened! So I am surprised by your Tesco lid softening at well below 100C. I'll pay a visit to Tesco.

      Hi,

The thickness is one of the key factors in softening time. 2 mm and 0,2 mm is a big difference.
