Not a hugely important tip, but I've found it useful. I once lost a tube of glue 'cos it got punctured in the box of bits and pieces I put it in - not to mention the clean up later!
Take a toothpaste box and cut it to about the length of your tube (glue, filler etc). Run a couple of bits of tape across the flap on the closed end to stop it falling open.
Voila. Instant box to keep your tube upright and provide protection from sharp bits in your box/drawer. As the tube gets shorter, cut off more of the box if you wish so you can see the contents without lifting it out of storage.
