I lived In the states for ten years, and a friend of mine had this old truck sitting around (as they do out there)

It was his granddads bought new, and had the title, and all the paperwork.

It was a real mess, and way rotten, but by older brother was so taken by it (because it was registered in 17th March 1951, the EXACT day he was born!)

He paid for a wrecker to tow it out, load it on a low loader, take it to Texas and ship it back to the uk.

    That was in 2001

My Dad and he worked on it, stripping it to bare nut and bolt. Dad passed on in 2008, and never saw it completed. I returned to the UK in 2006 and helped finish it, and it finally drove its maiden voyage last year,

It's a 1951 Chevrolet 3100 pickup, with original everything, (not the bed wood, we replaced that!)

Hope you like it. Anyone interested in a full portfolio of the complete restoration, I am going through all my brothers photos of the build and putting them onto photobucket for him.

Thanks Colin, rare because it's as it left the factory, so many are hot roded with V8s

      Here's some more

Took this of Dad removing the steering column when the truck got stripped down,

And then him putting it back in, once we painted it!

      Here's the body test fit.

And the engine going back in, was all original, but needed stripping, and new bronze bushings and the rings freeing off.

Amazing project Dave. Restored to 'as-new' condition too, awesome work.
