Is there an actual book by the French guy, I'd love one if available. I've printed out all the articles as they were published. Just wondered had he done anymore ?

I don’t know I had never heard of him before those articles, and don’t think I’ve come across his name since. But then, I’m not exactly the most well-informed person about what other people are up to

Extreme Real Buildings Renowned artist Emmanuel Nouaillier shows here how to reproduce decayed buildings in the model faithfully. Eleven chapters describe how to treat wood, concrete, brick, weaving signs, doors and windows accordingly. In English, 192 pages, richly illustrated.

All are aging a bit now, but all are worth a look. They all date from before the internet as well. The first two are standards in their field and should be well known. The other seven are all Wild Swan publications and may not be well known to the military modelling field. To me, being very active in railway modelling at the time, they were each like a window on a world I wanted to be part of. The weathering book in particular is astounding. The results he got from simple use of Humbrol paint and maskol is incredible. The Landscape modelling one was a real step forward in the portrayal of model countryside at the time, because he put as much effort into the countryside as he did into the track, stock, and buildings. What they all really taught me was how to look at the subject with a critical eye and to model what you see, not what you think you see……

Many thanks Gary, just ordered it from Bookworld, pricey at £ 55 with postage but I have no doubt well worth the out lay. Glad you found it. John
