    Question on transparent parts

    Regarding plastic models that is.

    Greetings everyone!

I am talking about those aircraft models with a transparent piece for the cockpit, wing-light and other parts.

Normal plastic glue works fine with these, but always blurs out some of the transparency. I was wondering - does anyone here know any tips to stop/limit that effect?

    Cheers!

hi vicente, most people use a pva based adhesive for this, micro kristal klear and formula 560 to name two, but if you cant get hold of these then normal pva wood glue will do ,its just not as thick as the specialist stuff so youll need to leave it to dry overnight before handling the model. The good thing about all these types of adhesive is theyre water soluble and wont attack the plastic plus any excess can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth. hope this helps cheers tony

Hi Vicente, I recently invested in Humbrol ClearFix cost me £1.50 for a 28mL bottle, which will last for ages, seems to work great. Its also supposed to be good for making windows in small apertures, I haven't tried that yet. All the Best Derek
