Well at long last, after initial tank testing, ballast trials and failsafe testing , (with which the model behaved faultlessly) i have managed to get round and post some pics of her.

sailing today ( sun 15,may) at the local pond, a bueatiful day.......

and a nice HDML model boat, owned by my father, and recently come out of storage after almost 16 years !



it`s been a pleasure to build her, and a pleasure to sail. i would recomend this to any new comer to model submarining :hammer: . a bit of help may be required in some places , but if the old rule of measure twice cut once is followed, then a very nice model is acheived.

Pity you were not at Richmond yesterday sailing during rough weather. The thunder, lightening and hailstones fell for the best part of an hour. Boats in the water were sinking and those on the display stand also took in anything upto three inches of water. It was spectacular!

Then the hailstones stopped, the sun came out and it was a gorgeous day spoilt only by the fact that my boat would not run.

It was good to see some boats from other clubs (including Edinburgh and Largs) on the tables and in the water.

Sorry I wasn't there to see the launching Adz - was searching for model boat shops in Sicily. Never found one though :sobbing: Lafayette looks really great and seems very well ballasted. You've done a great job there. I hope to have the Typhoon, Kilo and Turbulent at the EMBC event at Inverleith this Sunday - albeit the first two are not quite ready to sail yet. Might need a hand to lift the Typhoon (hint!). We'll have to start a sub section (pun intended!)

Superb pics...love them, one thing I have not tried yet is subs but yours looks the biz....I like the HDML too, I have a few nice plans for subs and the original HDML plans from nexus (I still have the mag that goes with it too) Just never got round to one of them yet, boats are so much more relaxing than flying or cars....especially when you feel like a lazy sunny day...I still love all aspects of this hobby though....just felt more relaxed when sailing that's all.

Some guys I know sail in the morning, go home for lunch and then you will find some of them up on the slope in the afternoon flying lol !!! some do go power flying too.

thanx for the comments guys, bluewave, i would highly recomend an engels sub kit, very good quality, if you where going to take the plunge that is.

as for the HDML, they are a popular model but i think they look great. that one pictured above was built by a surgeon many years ago i beleive. some lovely detail on there with signal flag racks stocked with signal flags !. i have more pics if your interested.

i have to agree with you on the relaxing sailing,the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon IMO. :bounce:
