hi guys,
as a newbie modeller/bike builder i havent ventured into the area of stripping the chrome parts and repainting with alclad or similar. on the chrome plated parts i do a black wash with watery enamel and then remove the excess with an enamel thinners dipped q-tip..the results are far superior to an untreated part.
my question is, if i decide to strip the chrome off (immersing in bleach??) and repaint using either tamiya acrylics or alclad (any suggestions on colours here?), then how do i do the blackwash? im assuming i cant use enamels thinners as this will attack the acrylic paint...what is the best technique for a convincing blackwash over acrylics?
Cheers
