    Sources & uses for springs.

Keep a look out for small packs of bargain springs,Proops Brothers used to sell packs useful for model building, tension springs etc can always find a use in our models.

Government surplus shops are rare these days but once were a valuable source for such items.

Small notebook compression springs are ideal for those sprung undercarriages.

I'm looking for some very small springs for the suspension of my latest tank model - springs need to be approx 5-6mm diameter and 8mm or so in length. I'm not sure how you define the pressure used to compress a spring but need to be very "soft" as there's no measurable wheel loading on each axle.

Any ideas of where I can source these items?

I wondered about that, although the spring pressure on those seems to be a little firm for my little tank!

I'll have to go to a stationary shop and spend a few minutes trying to compare different clicky top pens!

I'll probably get a few odd looks too!

          Hi Alan,

some cheap plastic lighters of the BIC variety have springs as described, though about 4 mm diam. If you don't smoke, you shall find the springs rather expensive...
