Hey Aaron, i can suggest if you want to try a tank after your aircraft, tamiyas old panzer 2 is very cheap and has great fit. I got one delivered from hongkong for $15 NZd including the kit. It has great decals and i think a nice introduction to modelling afvs.Welcome to the forum.Comment

for me i think its just easier at this point.
Yeah im definitely keen to try a tank. will see what the local hobby store has in stock today. i really want to keep the ball rolling so to speak, so will get something cheap today, then next week my partner wants to buy me something a bit bigger for my birthday. i might get something a little step up and a few more bottles of paint. it doesnt really help i dont have much room in this house to make the models ( using the side of my study desk, trying not to get glue and paint on my books lol) but, the time flew by while i was working on the Yak yesterday.Comment

Hi! Welcome to the Forum! Great to see another Australian Modeller!
In painting, if you are using Acrylic, that's great as it does not actually clog up panel lines as much as enamel (although I use enamel).
Painting will improve in time. Be patient! as you do more and more models and listen to the advice of these great guys of this forum, your painting will improve!
Do not start off with an airbrush! You will get horrible results if a beginner modeller and it is better to start off with the good old brush.
Airbrushing is just complicated and difficult to perform. Once you have completed a few models you can have a shot at airbrushing.
All the best in your future in Modelling!Comment

What I have read on this forum & from others that hand brushing Tamiya acrylics is not easy. This I have read from seasoned model makers. Others say you can get a superb finish. Others here will give more information.
I started with Humbrol enamel & near gave up model making. Then went to Vallejo acrylics & it took off as it is so easy to use.

The 2 hobby stores closest to only stock Tamiya paint due to also selling remote controls. There is a much bigger store a little bit further away that has about 10 times more models, so I might go there on Saturday see what other paints/brushes/models they have. I might stick with tamiya for the time being just because of the ease to buy. Ill just need to practice my painting a lot more. Try some new brushes too.
I can say though, apart from really struggling with small pieces due to my Neanderthal hands, I'm really enjoying modelling!Comment
