THE best original cast star trek film by far..... Slightly outdone by cumberbachs acting prowess in JJ Abrams version.
For me cumberbach lacks the on screen presence of montalbans

I still have to ask then, How far do you think Khan would get before every ship in the area was on him? I used to think like that once, but when I really considered it, I figured it was unlikely that starfleet would just let Khan keep the ship because he took it "fairly and squarely". That makes about as much sense as a modern day warship being stormed by somali pirates, the crew put off in life boats, and the pirates make off with the ship. No government or armed forces would ever tolerate such belligerence. They might enjoy a brief run, but in the end, it will be going down in a blaze of (imagined) glory.

On the other hand, imagine what would happen if Khan and company were successful. Kirk is dead, the enterprise in ruins, if not totally destroyed. The genesis project, for all intents and purposes has been postponed indefinitely.

If I were of the federation council or starfleet top brass, I'd be pretty torqued up about it as soon as I got the news.

Now what if they've been on the lam for 5-10 years. Reliant is becoming less so, after years of in attention from unskilled tenants. Sure, a lot of things can be automated but there are still systems that will require crew monitoring, and Khan didn't bring enough 'manpower' no matter how genetically modified it may be.

But what if it became necessary to do major repairs? They can't put into any space dock, the Feds are hunting them (or should be). Member worlds but not with starfleet are out of the question too because spies are everywhere. They might be able to barter or trade or otherwise bully lesser tech races, or work with bounty hunters and other rogues and smugglers, but how easy would it be to rebuild the forward 1/3 of the saucer section (for whatever reason). Or reinstall a shuttlebay? Or the transporters? Or the reattaching of a damaged warp nacelle or pylon?

In his lust for revenge, I think Khan didn't really think things through.

I didn't write what I meant there, missing out my point completely...It seemed right in my head as i was thinking it though

I meant montalbans performance in Space seed to compare actors of the same age ish, he was a bit plastic then in my opinion.

I agree though, as I've said above with the film being tops for me, he plays an excelent role in the film.

You seem to be forgetting one thing. Khan would have gotten away...have you noticed that Starfleet only has around three ships at any one time? I mean, any crap that hits the galactic fan, who is it that has to go...yep Enterprise. Your're the only vessel within range...Bull...they ain't got any others.

I found these guys hiding in the hard drive. I took them a few years ago, I think back in 2010 or thereabouts.

the enterprise is in 350 scale and was the first present my wife (then girlfriend) gave me. It wasn't my best work, all wonky lines and whatnot. I should have painted the shield grid lines in grey not black or maybe a wash, but I was still relearning everything.

I had that Enterprise kit, I faffed so much with the plating slightly different shades to get the effect that I was going blind lol.

I like the idea that you took them out of the loft to make some SPACE.

Cosmic or intergalactical?

It came with a set of "stencil masks" so one could (if one was so inclined) attempt to paint out the 'aztec pattern' on the hull. But you only get one sheet and have to copy it out like 15 times, cut out the opposite masks, stick 'em to the hull, and paint out the pattern you need. Stupid. I took one look at that and ran off screaming. I settled for enhancing the shield grid lines for extra detail instead. But as I mentioned, and looking at it now, I probably should have gone with a medium dark grey, so they would be noticeable, but not "in your face about it".

The old enterprise-D model actually has the pattern embossed on the hull. Faintly, but if you have the time and patience, you can paint out what you need, without the need for a stencil mask.

Hi Steve,

You certainly have a great collection, I do like the Reliant (NCC 1864) ship you have built, although my favourite has to be Voyager (NCC-74656), Next Generation would have been tons better if, they didn't have that annoying kid in it and that Tasha Yar wasn't killed off...

Andy...

I met Denise Crosby a few years ago. She was great. Easy to talk to, joke with. I made her laugh when I brought up her movie "trekkers", the docco-type film about trek fans, when I said the picture that some of those fans made of themselves (and how poorly their costumes fit them), made me hit the floor and start doing push ups! We got this from her...
