    Some more done today.

Had to take the rear wheels off as I need to do some work on them. They will be seen and while it may be unlikely that a vehicle like this would have such big wheels, there's no way they would be built like this!

Had to build a platform for the bridge structure and work out how to support it. I may add more support later but for the moment:

Finally, I got the deck started and did some pimping on the bridge. It's beginning to take shape:

I'm not too happy with the smaller rocket launchers, I may move them but I'll have to find something to replace them if I do.

I also got my Bugs sprayed and removed the masking from one. There's a lot of fiddly touching up to do, but I think they'll look OK.

It's funny, but I didn't think my original Bug - Kay Tee - was frightening. Maybe because he's impossibly big. I can more easily visualise a swarm of these smaller bugs attacking some lonely traveller deep in the South American jungle somewhere!

Nice work so far Dave. That cluster of spiders would make you think twice in the bush.

Got a couple more bits done.

This is why I needed those missiles:

I thought I'd better have some sort of scanner (just test fit together at the moment)

I had thought of maybe taking this to Cosford if they got a 'Novelty' section in their competition.

If I did, the title would be:

"Where is he? I'll kill the b****r!"

                  Why?

"Dad! Dad! Come and look what this man's made!

Hey dad! Come and look! Over here dad! Come on dad!"

"What am I supposed to look at son?"

"Look at that great big space tank dad! The man made it from an old Hoover, dad!

Go on dad! You could do that, dad! Just like building your models dad!

Will you make me one, dad?

                  Go on, dad! Please dad!

Go on dad! You make lots of things and mum's got an old Hoover in the garage you could use!

Go on dad! I know mum was only going to throw it away!

Go on dad! You could make one of those 'cos you're ever so good at making tanks dad!

Go on dad! Make me one please! Please dad!

Go on dad! You got that big box of bits you could use for the guns and things!

Go on dad! I need one to go with all my spacemen, dad!

Go on dad! It wouldn't take you long!

Go on dad! Will you dad? Please dad?

                  Go on dad ..........."

I was only joking about needing to pick the right six numbers ....

I like the look of this Dave, very very clever regarding the hoover parts. Top work mate, this should look really good once finished...no loss of suction either...bug death!

Si - There may be no loss of suction, but those beasties are too big to go up the pipe!

Bit more done on this one.

I think I've finished pimping the command turret so it's had a coat of Halfords primer. I don't think I'll bother with any sort of camo pattern - this works out at about 75ft wide, 70ft long and nearly 80ft high in scale - so it's hard to think of any sort of pattern that would help. I may even leave it as it is - any suggestions?

I got an old printer which I cannibalised for some more bits and there's still some more pimping on the hull section to do. It took me three attempts to fill in the inside of the big wheels at the back. I eventually ended up using a couple of old CDs fixed with Araldite as nothing else would stick.

I'm working on the Bugs but it's a PITA finding and then scraping off the Vallejo Liquid mask I used to keep the yellow patches. It might have been better so spray them black then paint the yellow on top - but I know how difficult it is to cover dark colours with light ones so maybe I did it right after all.
