I am open to all comments on my build. I have been on this for just under 3 months and progress has been slow. I will upload my progress to date. I have limited history of models and have never attempted to light one, let alone include weapons and sounds. so please enjoy and feel free to let me know what you think, and any suggestions you have. Colin

My first job was cleaning and then priming.

After 4 layers inside I gave it a final coat in metallic silver to help reflect light.

I masked off the phaser array and coated it. It was at this point I started to change my plan after seeing a moseley. on YouTube.  I decide I too wanted a working phaser array.....as will become apparent I have done some of this backwards.

Welcome to the forum Colin I can't give you much advice as I have a revell Voyager to light but LEDs would be the way to go I am currently in the process of lighting a ship I am doing with strip LED's they are a bit expensive but they can be cut into sections and are easy to wire up

I then sprayed the entire model in 1 coat of my final colour, which will be done.later.

My next step was prepping the nacells. I just drew around the clear part and then adjusted accordingly .

To help.with colour saturation I coated the respective areas in metallic blue and red. later decided I didn't like it and coated it all in silver

I then started the wiring process, which went through 3 different configurations. again I changed my mind and wanted the pulsing effect so ordered another kit and re-wired.

And so began what I thought would be relatively easy, the windows. in my ignorance I had not realised there are literally thousands of tiny windows on this ship. and this is where I am currently at. I have now got about 40 windows left to remove. this was again a learning curve. I realise now I possibly should not have painted the kit until I had removed the windows. so nearly 3 months in........

@peterairfix thanks . I have bought 6 different kits for this. think I'm mad.... I have a combination of led bulbs and strips never used either before. winging most of this... but I have bags of imagination lol.

And I made this. needed one and delivery of mine was 2 weeks away so I used old pens, clothes pegs and my glue gun. cheap and really affective

And finally finished all.of the windows in the upper saucer section....I'm only using a single led at this point.

And finally completed the inner lights and phaser for the saucer

It looks like the rigging on a sailing ship! The pictures of the windows even with only one LED look great and this picture shows the extent of the wiring to make a fantastic light up model. I admire your perseverance and look forward to seeing progress.
