    USS Voyager, Revel Model.

Hi All as a new member I'd like to give my best regards and say I'm looking forward to hearing feedback from everyone as I post up my progress on my models.
I am not always the most focused, I have a tendency to have multiple projects on including woodwork projects and thats when I find the free time lol
Anyways currently I am working on the Revel USS Voyager Model, using the photo etch kit, I will be adding lighting and am even considering motorising the necell, if I can figure out a good way to do so.
All the best and I look forward to reading your imput.

    Kind Regards,

    Jesse

Motorising the nacelle? It’s been a long time since I watched (and gave up on) Voyager, but I don’t remember what could be in there that would visibly spin. Sounds like a cool idea, though.

Think more of a Rise than a spin, the Voyager was the only one that featured necells to my knowlege that raised up before entering warp speed.
Ive seen the Revel Model done before to acomplish this but its rather tricky getting the servos to behave correctly and there is limited space. But I do like the challenge of trying to get it to work.

            Jesse,
welcome to the forum, there is a wide range of modellers here!
I like the lights on your Voyager - do you use one light source, and fibre optics, or multiple lights? LEDs or conventional bulbs? I've never been a Sci-Fi fan, but I'm always curious to see how other modelling genres handle things!
            Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, I'm using multiple light sources, all leds, including led strips. This tends to be to the main go to now as they require little voltage and produce much less heat. Whilst it's significantly high I'm building this around a 12v supply as I may attempt adding a servo to try get the necells to rise. I will be playing around with beacon lights and alternating lighting effects too. I do have some videos of some experiments but not sure how to put them up yet.

Thank you Scottie, it has a long ways to go, I'm hoping I can get back to it soon though. I've not long moved after buying a house, so I've been busy with DIY and sorting the house out. It will be nice to get back to this for some downtime

for anyone familiar with the model, they will notice that I've been making my own sensor bands sensor bands, this is mainly due to my cats as they managed to get into my modeling room and loose some of the bits. Though I am quite chuffed with the results. Even if not 100% accurate to the original.

Oh yeah, that’s right — now you mention it, I remember them swivelling upward a bit, yes.

Sounds like it would be a cool addition if you can make it work.

I geuss time will tell but I'll just keep tinkering away at it. Hopefully I'll finish it in another 12months or so if I can find the time to spend on it
