Stuart, my balls are green, stuck together and I've started dremmeling bits out of them, but like Dave says .. At least I'm not working with a small chopper like Tony :

Innuendo over ..... Its coming on and I'm off to find some old electrical components for the surface detailing today

Some say its sad for remembering and quoting excerpts from tv series....I'm going to top the sadness and mention that just after season five I applied for mastermind with red dwarf as my specialist topic. I received a letter back to say that another applicant had chosen the subject and I was free to apply for the following year.

When I watched the program he passed on three questions which I knew the answers.... Fortunately it saved me some embarrassment coz I only got 1 question right from the 13 or so general knowledge.

The Gelf, that was the name I couldn't remember, thanks.

As a slight aside, I read backwards as a friend bought it and though the episode was good, the book read sooo much better and far far funnier, theres a particular part of the book where the cat goes into the woods to do what they do and........ well, for those not knowing, everything happens backwards on this planet food and drink is regurgitated onto the plate, santa's a malicious fat bloke who climbs down chimneys an steals kids toys etc so you can imagine.

I think the arnold / ace episode was my second all time fave next to the JFK assasination / time travelling for a curry episode which was the best outright.

So when can we expect updated pics?

        Your wish is my command

Spent ages with a dremmel just taking the very top surface of the polystyrene off to form the main cabin window (just looks better recessed a little rather than painted on.

Most of the afternoon was spent sticking the basics of the detail so i have somewhere to run the cables to

Got the bum-end done, the cavity houses a sort of aerial

Looking good, such a simple idea and i'd never have thought of it.

Arnold and the space corps would be proud of your efforts so far,

              Thanks guys.

The rearmost pod wasn't flush up enough to the middle one so I've pulled it apart and cut away some poly, its sort of balancing on edge with a weight on it at the most to dry so I'll get updated pictures tomorrow when I do a bit more to it.

Got to find something for the leg bases and thruster covers... Could possibly be another balsa carving session methinks

Thanks Andy, got a load more done today as I couldn't get out in the garden to manufacture a new vivarium for our ever-growing Burmese python, he's a tad over 7 foot so a 6x2x2 ft viv is a nice interim size until he gets fully grown and needs his own room

But anyway, I waffle on, got the rear thrusters and all the rear engine detailing on, plus some little extras on the hull. Will give it coat of paint tomorrow and will post pictures then.

                    Ok the latest photies,

added a few extra items of detailing to the hull.

Got a decent amount of detail on the engine, thrusters on etc. (before and after paint to give you an idea what was used)

The whole engine will have a dry brush of gunmetal and then a brown wash or two to give it a used look.

Dont have to worry about going overboard on the weathering as the original in the series was in a right state anyway

Now to find something that'll do as the leg bases that attach to the hull ...hmmmmm

Looking super...have you just made your own version or have the detailing, engine parts etc, modelled off the real Starbug.

Ive just taken the main look and improvised my own detailing to look some thing like.

if I start to do a perfect replica I get too anal and it ends up not being fun.

                        thanks for the comment

                          Hi Colin,

Again, I find myself trying to catch up on builds, so sorry Sir, you really seem to have your building mojo at the moment, with the Prometheus and now this, yet another great scratch built ship and one that most of us know...

Now that I have caught up with this one, I shall be following it closely...

                          Andy...
