For a really serious build, I can thoroughly recommend this kit from the Wooden Boat Store, U.S.. The box contains drawings, instructions and all of the materials needed to complete the 12th scale model. The entire construction follows full size practice of laying off from the lines drawings onto the supplied wood sheets. Not a model for the faint-hearted but immensely satisfying when it all goes right!
It took three months of painstaking concentration to get it to this stage. I intend to paint the exterior White with a varnished sheer strake and an oiled interior. I may - or may not! - add a mast, spar and furled sail. Don't hod your breath!
