This is the old Revell Lionfish kit. I built it a few years ago.
I’ve been calling this submarine the USS Sea Monkey because I haven’t been able to find any photos of a WWII Gato class sub with the same paint job. I picked a fish name that wasn’t used (I think). I hope it’s not disrespectful to the vets because it isn’t meant to be.
I extended the black deck paint down to the hull for 2 reasons. First off, I didn’t want to paint or drill out all those flow-through holes. Second is because I like it this way but I do wonder if I ought to hit it with dull coat. The only WWII sub I’ve seen is the Pampanito in San Francisco and the black deck paint was pretty shiny.
